Join our dynamic team at HUB Biobank as a Biobank Lab Technician, where you will play a crucial and valued role in maintaining, characterising, and updating our extensive collection of organoid cultures. You will also be involved in technology transfer activities to ensure safe and efficient material shipment.
Scope of Position
As a Biobank Lab Technician, we are looking for candidates with a degree in biology or a related field and experience in biobanking or cell culture. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the maintenance and expansion of our HUB organoid biobank to support our services. As this is a relatively new team, you will be involved in setting up and following new and existing procedures and protocols to ensure efficient working.
What will you do? You
- Expand and manage existing organoid cultures to maintain our extensive organoid biobanks, ensuring our high HUB standard.
- Enter organoid data frequently into our databases and maintain an updated organoid record.
- Work according to the guidelines of SOPs, lab manuals, and other documents to carry out your daily tasks.
- Conduct isolations from tissue to establish new models and have the flexibility to do it in the evening or on weekends when needed.
- Plan your work week and inform your manager and the team of task statuses.
- Organize general lab tasks, including LN inventory management and submissions.
- Display flexibility in adapting to changes quickly without compromising task performance.
- Facilitate shipment to third parties, including the preparation of documentation.
What will you bring?
- A MBO4 or bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related discipline).
- You have experience working with cell cultures. We will train you on organoids, and it is a plus to have some experience with them.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail. Very precise and good technically.
- You communicate effectively, friendly, and respectfully with different organizational levels.
- You can work independently and manage your time efficiently.
- You are flexible and adaptable, so you can handle changing priorities and tasks.
- You have a proactive and enthusiastic attitude toward learning and optimizing culturing methods.
- You are proficient in English (written and verbal).
