Manager Data Team
We are looking for a strong Bioinformation to lead our Data Team. As Manager Data Team you are motivated to use your expertise to participate in our journey on the acceleration of drug discovery pipeline for our customers, applying our state-of-the art organoid (“patient in the lab”) technology. Your contribution to delivering correct and accessible data to our internal and external stakeholders is critical in driving the high quality standards HUB Organoids is known for.

Scope of position:
In this position you currently report to the Chief Scientific Officer. In this exciting opportunity in our dynamic scale-up Company, you lead the organization, integration and analysis of complex biological and clinical datasets. You develop, improve and make use of a computational platform for advancing the discovery of new medicines and characterisation of our Organoid biobank. You are critical to ensuring the integrity, accessibility and security of data that drives our research innovation.
Crucial to this role is the combination of a hands-on execution of data projects with coaching responsibilities for a small team.
As subject matter expert on content you actively engage in the execution of our projects and you involve and develop data scientists.
This is an opportunity to work across multidisciplinary teams of scientists, business developers and project managers, in a fast-paced environment, dealing with a diverse array of biological data sets defining novel healthcare insights, with the ultimate goal to support our customers and the organization.
What will you do?
- Hands-on developing and implementing tools to analyze, visualize and exploit data of very large datasets (Omics, Molecular and Phenotypic characterization), and setup automated data analysis pipelines.
- Manage a team of data scientists to strategize new technology solutions within HUB and maintain/improve already existing technologies.
- Provide general infrastructure support to the organisation when it comes to (sequencing) data, databases and bioinformatics analyses.
- Develop and implement processes, policies and best practices related to data management, -storage and -analysis, according to HUB’s quality standards.
- Evaluate and optimize data workflows that support key decision-making processes.
- Initiate and implement new data analysis approaches and genomic technologies (NGS).
- Provide technical and scientific support to end-users within commercial projects (Business Developers, Research teams and HUB’s customers).
What will you bring?
- PhD preferably in Bioinformatics, alternatively in Data Science, Computational Biology, Machine Learning or related fields
- At least 6 years of experience in data science/bioinformatics of which 2 years in an industrial environment (experience in a CRO is a strong plus)
- Proven experience in data management, database administration or bioinformatics within the biotech, pharmaceutical or healthcare sector.
- Experience as a team lead or other leadership experience
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced scale-up environment.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, R or other programming languages for data manipulation.
- Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI etc.).
- Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and ELN/LIMS systems.
- Able to deliver with quality, within time and available budgets.
- Understanding of data privacy, security and compliance standards in the biotech industry.
- Strong analytical mindset, problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
